Penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 1 Sangatta Selatan

This research aims to improve students' English learning outcomes through Type STAD Cooperative Learning approach to the theme of understanding the descriptive text and text recount the students in the class VIIIC SMP Negeri 1 South Sangata Academic Year 2009/2010. This research was carried out in SMP Negeri 1 South Sangata Academic Year 2009/2010 with research subjects VIIIC class numbered 34 students and this is a learning object penelitiann koopertif type STAD. In collecting instrument test results of study and observation. Achievement test implemented the end of each cycle to determine the increase in learning outcomes at the end of the cycle. These observations were conducted at each meeting and during the learning process takes place. This study consisted of two cycles where each cycle consists of three meetings to twice the one-time learning and achievement test. Who acted as executor of learning is a researcher and who acted as an observer is an English teacher VIIIC class SMP Negeri 1 South Sangata Academic Year 2009/2010. The results showed that there peningakatan average learning outcomes in the first cycle of 56.76 and on the second cycle of 73.82 resulting in an increase of 17.06. While the average teacher observation activities in the first cycle was 8.0 sedangan on the second cycle of 8.1 resulting in the increase. The conclusion of this research is through the learning type STAD Cooperative learning English with the theme of understanding the descriptive text and text in class VIIIC recount SMP Negeri 1 South Sangata Academic Year 2009/2010 has increased.
