Mass Media’s Perspective on the Challenges of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Indonesia

This study investigated the challenges of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) in Indonesia based on mass media’s perspective. The challenges of ICT on
mass media’s perspective are very complex. Some of these challenges include the
consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of ICT, threats to the unity of the country,
cultural problems, regulation, business competition among operators, Pokemon Go booming,
the existence of social media which triggers hostility between people and the increasing rate of
the interconnection cost. Among the main reasons to this phenomenon is a need of massive
investment to build the infrastructures. This study used Robert N. Entman framing model to
analyze the headlines of Majalah ICT (an ICT magazine).
