The Analysis Of Lexical And Contextual Meaning Of Eminem Song Lyrics

This research carries out the analysis of the lexical and contextual meaning of Eminem's songs to explain
the context contained in his songs. The focus of this research is to describe the context contained in song
lyrics from lexical and contextual meaning by using semantic approach. The problems in this research
are: (1) the lexical meaning attached to Eminem's song lyrics. (2) The contextual meaning attached to
Eminem song lyrics. Researcher took ten songs from various Eminem albums. This research used a
qualitative descriptive method because the researcher will analyze and interpret the research object of
Eminem's songs. The step to get data is to collect data sources from Eminem songs taken from the
internet. The method used to collect data is observation, while data analysis uses interactive methods.
After that, researcher selected, read, and listened to songs that contained semantics to understand the
content of the songs. Then, the author analyzes and concludes the data collected. The results of this
research describe the lexical and contextual meanings found in Eminem's songs, but not all lexical and
contextual types are found in these songs of the ten Eminem songs, there are lexical types found such as
synonym, antonym, polysemy, hyponym, homonym, Researcher hope this research will be useful for
other researcher who really want to know more about semantics.
