PENGARUH JENIS MEDIA TANAM TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN VEGETATIF TANAMAN CABAI RAWIT (Capsicum frutescens L.)

This study aims to determine the effect of different growing media on
vegetative growth of Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.). This research was conducted
at the Green house of Faculty of Agriculture, Lancang Kuning University in March-April
2014. Research method used was an experimental method using a completely randomized
design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatment namely: M0 (soil: chicken manure) with ratio of
5 : 1, M1 (soil: paddy husks: chicken manure) with ratio of 3:2:1, M2 (soil: sawdust: chicken
manure) with ratio of 3:2:1, M3 (soil: cocopeat: chicken manure) with ratio of 3:2:1. The
data were analyzed by using Analysis Of Varians (ANOVA) One-Way with significancy level
(α)=0,01. The results showed that the type of growing media significantly affectedplant
height, leaf number, fresh weight and dry weight except root length of plants cayenne
pepper(Capsicum frutescens L.). The best results were M3 (soil: cocopeat: chicken
manure)with averageplant heightof 12.17cm, number of leaves7strands, wet weight 1,5 g,
anddryweight of0.19g.
